Has anyone used Wonga before?

Hi all,

I've recently been hit by an unexpected repair bill, don't have time to arrange an overdraft and don't particularly want to burden any friends or relatives (who probably don't have the spare cash anyway) to ensure I can make it to my payday.

I've looked at Wonga for a quick payday loan, who will charge me £45 for £400 over the next two weeks.

Has anyone used them before? Was it as bad as everyone seems to think? What was the reason you went for it and how did it turn out?

Thanks in advance.

can't you put off paying the bill until pay day? or maybe bounce some of your other regular payments? it will take them a month or so to go through the process of sending out letters etc by with time you should be back on an even keel with your finances

What did you do OP.

To be honest in your situation I'd be phoning the company I owed the money to first to discuss delaying the payment or paying by installments. You may be pleasantly surprised by their response (and you may not be).

If they won't agree talk to your bank about an over draft which will have the advantage of beiing more flexible than a pay day loan as you can pay it off over a period of time rather than in one big lump.

Wonga would be a last resort

Please, please don't use wonga. It will stay on your credit file for the next 6 years and you will find it extremely difficult to remortgage, get a new mortgage or a loan during this time.

You may need to go with a specialist lender where the interest rate would be 6/7% rather than 2 or 3%.

Don't learn the hard way. I'm sure that your friends/family will be really understanding and would be willing to help.

I've reported you for spamming.

And I hope that no one is really stupid or desperate enough to fall for this poorly written nonsense.

You're an "international businessman" and I'm the Queen of Sheba.

Yes, I was wondering about OP being a journalist too Apple.
If you are OP, have the integrity to ask outright and I'm sure many posters would talk to you about their experiences oh, wait, Daily Fail, integrity...

I have a free £400 over draft with first direct!
Also they pay you £150 to switch to them so if you do that you would only need £250 overdraft?
