On phone to tax credits regarding someone who doesn't live with me

I have had a letter informing me that they have evidence that a Mr xxx xxx may be living at my address. He doesn't live here and never has done. We are friends but he is my ex.

He has had some mail delivered here in the past I didn't think this wasn't allowed? I claim tax credits as a single person because I am single. He does stay over occasionally if I'm on a nightshift so he can take dds to school etc in the morning but apart from that he comes and goes as other friends would do.

Wed have access arrangements for dds he has them eow and during holidays etc.

We are very much happy apart and are better Co parents than lovers.

I'm really nervous I'm on hold at the moment.

I have nothing to hide but in scared they stop my money or ask me to prove he doesn't live here. How do I do that? He lives with his parents.

Anyone got experience of this?

Does he receive bills in his name at his parent's address? Can he prove he pays them rent?

It's a matter of proving the address at his parent's house is his permanent address to which his mail is delivered and so on. This was asked before a while ago. If all untility bills are in your name and he is not contributing to household expenses then you are living as a single person and not as a household.

I had this, it was fine. They do check on claimants regularly, it's just a standard thing. You'll be ok.
