Does anyone now if I can cancel my contract - I believe it is an 18month contact, i've had it 13 months and I simply can't afford to pay it anymore.

I've called Orange and they said no, but surely they cant make me get in debt to them, can they? Is there any way to get out of it?> I'm on single mum benefits and cant afford £40 a month or more on a stupid phone.

why not reduce your tariff and only use the inclusive minutes? I think their cheapest is about £17 per month.

You lower your tarrif to the lowest one

Get rid of any extras, insurance etc

Cancel your contract and their collections department will be in touch to pay off the line rental for the remainng 5 months

Jampots - I called Orange the other day to ask about their updated call plans and the cheapest they do now is £25 . I asked what happened to the £20 plan and they said they withdrew it a few weeks ago....

thats terrible. In which case see WB's post below

I think you can get out of the contract but it will cost you. Not sure how much, but however much you saved at the beginning of the contract will be taken into account.

hmmmmm not sounding hopefull, seriously though I'm getting £50 a week plus CB once a month - even the lowest tarrif is too much. Its great when you are earning 19K to have a mobile but if your life goes tits up and you don't have that job anymore you are fucked/

Will ring them again to try and get on the lowest tarrif and ride it all out till I can cancel - assuming I'm not so in debt by then I've ended up in court
