New VAT Regulations this year have changed the VAT level (when you must register for VAT) from £80k to nil. If you send out digital goods i.e. e-book or knitting patterns digitally, you now have to register, even if your profit is one pound. The REALLY bad news is you have to charge different rates of VAT for buyers from each EU country (27 different rates). The REALLY REALLY bad news is that from Jan 16 this applies to all goods posted to buyers, not just digital goods. For micro businesses or even small businesses this is simply impossible to comply with. Some have already closed their business rather than break the law. If you want to help stop this madness sign the petition - just google 'VAT regulations digital.' At the moment Vince Cable doesn't understand how bad this is.

You need to read more as that is not what the regulations say.
