I hoping someone can come up with an ingenious idea of how to help me?! (I'm not holding my breath though- I'm utterly stumped!)I also apologise in advance for the long post!

Briefly put, my current situation is I live with my partner and our daughter and my step daughter in a bungalow which belongs to my partners aunt (who lives abroad). We are very lucky as the property belongs to family so it is cheap. However, I am nowhere near my family, friends or work and have to commute quite some way to see them and get to work. I don't drive so use public transport (which I don't mind). The property is falling apart, I mean ACTUALLY FALLING APART, slowly but surely. I have also been recently diagnosed with depression, heightened anxiety disorder and mild OCD tendencies, which my doctor and the mental health specialist say is largely down to my current isolated state.
So anyway, I am desperate to move back to my home town. Move out of the horrible town I'm in (its nasty!) and be near my mum and friends and work again. It would totally better my mental state and I would be far happier.
The problem being we cant afford to move out. I have checked out housing benefit etc and we don't qualify. If we just had an extra couple of hundred pounds a month it would solve the issue, and the only way of doing that is to get rid of our credit cards, but I don't have the £5000 to cover mine or my partners joint debt. Any quick ways to make £5000?!? Haha!
I've tried applying for a consolidation loan but was rejected straight away.
I am getting to a point now where my depression is getting much worse (yes I have been to the doctor) but I cant see a solution to the main problem that is causing it. I'm trying to be proactive, but I am utterly stuck now.

Any help or ideas anyone? Please?

your housing costs would be much higher though, can you afford that, do you both work?

alicemelinda · 19/02/2015 19:44

Yes we both work, I work 4 days a week and my partner os full time. If I could figure out how to clear these credit cards quickly we would be able to do it!

Are you still using the credit cards.

alicemelinda · 19/02/2015 20:13

No. I havnt used mine at all for months as I don't want to get into any more debt!

If you don't mind posting your personal financial deatils, have a look at the "Debt Free Wannabe" forum on Money Saving Expert. Basically they get you to fill in a typical budget and then suggest ways you can reduce your debt as quickly as possible. Sounds like you don't need to cut back that much to make your move feasible (and of course you'd save on transport costs if less far to travel).

That sounds useful! Thank you! :)
