What are your monthly extra costs after rent or mortgage?

I was wondering because I find ours are quite low, we live in Germany. We rent quite cheaply for the centre of Berlin and the extra costs aren't huge. That is water, heating and electricity. The costs for rubbish colection, cleaner for building and garden are shared by all 8 flats so they are minimal. We hope to move to the UK next year and I think we might be in for a shock especially if we rent. We have 2 kids.

It's a housing association flat, buktus.

Edinburgh council tax is dearer than some boroughs of London.

Early, we're still not sure where we'll end up, but there is no future for us here, that much we've accepted and come to terms with.

Scottish council tax includes rubbish, sewage and water.

These are not charged separately, at least not in flats.

I don't know about houses, having never lived in one here.

I live in London (Wandsworth Borough)
council tax: £80 per month
Gas: £50 per month
Electricity: £30 per month
household insurance £34
water: £22
BT & broadband: £30
parking permit: £10
TV license: £11
Car insurance: £37 (very old car)
Think that's about it for household bills.

I have 3 bed housing association house in south west, rent is about £350 a month council tax is just over £100 a month, water is £30 a month, gas elec and phone about £80-90 a month. Am now thinking my council tax and water seem disproportionately high compared to other peoples

When I first moved here I found the idea of paying for "Free" TV outrageous (now I find it even more because it's rubish compared to what it was), rents are ok and as expected, food price conmensurate to salary, bt nothing prepared us for the shock the price of the nursery was going to be.
