Bank problems, its long!

Hiya,
In August we were adviced by our bank to suspend our direct debits from the 20th to the end of the month as they were charging us for them not going out (as we had a bad month).
I was told that from the start of september, everything will go out as normal, as they have not stopped anything.
So, in September (at the end of the month), we recieved loads of letters stating we needed to pay these bills urgently, so i went to the bank to find out why the companies didn't take their money, to which we were informed "somebody in their call centre has canceled all out direct debits" and that they will sort it out.
Everythings ok, but for some reason our mortgage company didn't take theirs (for reasons we do not know), and they are now asking for two months together (don't how how they are going to get it!).
So, I thought banks can't just cancel direct debits without our permission.

Is it worth complaining? what else can we do about it?

They can just cancel them without your permission - we used to do return and cancel at the same time if the customer was a serial defaulter.

Obviously this doesn't apply to you and it's been a mistake. You can complain as they didn't do as you asked and have now caused you extra problems. The mortgage company will still want their money though I expect.

Thanks for that.
The mortgage still want their money, but thankfully that are being ok about it all!
