please take note

ive been sent a few emails lately, the last one today, supposedly from paypal telling me that my billing information isnt up to date and that i need to update it to keep my account going or it will be suspended within 12 hours until ts been updated

when you click onto the link on the email it supposedly goes to the paypal site where you log in using your email address and paypal password

it then goes supposedly onto a paypal page where it asks for security perposes for your credit card/bank acount number listed on paypal and the expiry date of the card, the security digits on the back and also the pin number for it.

it all looks completely real but because it asked for the pin number i contacted paypal on 0870 730 7191

they informed me not to ever go onto the links again, it is a spoof email and is someone trying to get my bank/credit card details out of me and that paypal will never ask for pin numbers etc for verification

please if anyone gets it, delete it and never give any details

im only worrying as i know i had it a while back and im worried i might have entered the details then as i cant remember!

if ever you're unsure of an email, ring the number i quoted and check with them first

better to be safe than sorry

Thank you very much for the warning, I buy alomost everything from e-bay & to know this information is a real comfort.

Have bought over 150 items from e-bay & only ever been ripped off once, from a V.nasty piece of work indeed seeling ipods & other digital equipment which he took payment for & never sent the goods.

Keep this bumped throughout the week for others.

I would NEVER give out any personal/sensitive
info on the say so of an e-mail.

lulunaticmama · 08/10/2006 23:09

thanks - had loads of these in the past - anything that asks for bank details and pin numbers is bad news.

but the emails look authentic, and its a good idea to bring it to peoples attention,

thanks!

lulunaticmama, my beat friend also got stung by
giving out info requested through the post.

DO not give out ANY personal details unless you have phoned/emailed company/person directly. It's so easy to get ripped off these days what with internet banking & the like.

mumandlovingit · 09/10/2006 07:45

the emil oink goes to a site which you think i the real paypal and it sys on te site to enter the details.not on the email.thats what confused me and made me think it was real.

anyone know if im covered if someone uses my credit card/bankcard for anything? i know i wouldnt have given my pin number, maybe the security code.

could someone have hacked into the computer from me clicking on the link?

dont know how these things work. do my baking online and dont want them to get my passwords etc from that
