Have just seperated from P and he says he doesn't want the car, and strictly speaking it is mine, I paid for it, but have no proof of that. EP has said sell it, but can i ??

All documentation is in his name as I don't drive.

It's not worth alot, will probably only get a coiple of hundred if I am luck, which is a shame cos it's a decent enough car really.

Oh and the tax runs out the end of October as does the MOT, do i need to declare it off the road or something ??

As long as you get him to sign the DVLA form confirming the sale - or get him to transfer it into your name, but that could be time-consuming - then you should be OK.

If you don't tax the car, you need to declare it as off the road - and it must be off the road, i.e. you can't just leave it parked outside your house on the main highway.

Does this mean he's agreed to move out too?

He has gone freckle, we rowed and I told him to get out and he did. He's gone to his neices for now i think.

Not sure if he will sign any forms so that might be difficult.

It is ok to have it parked on my drive if declared as off the road isn't it ??

My friend said to keep it as I want to learn to drive, but it's a huge estate car so i think thats a bad idea really.

On the drive is fine but you need to file a SORN. If you have the logbook (silly name really as it's only a piece of paper these days), there should be a tear off bit at the bottom for declaring the car off the road.

If he won't sign the car over to you, then leave it on the road and he'll get the fine for not taxing it.
