Well my youngest child is 12 so I think my childcare NI contributions have stopped. I am a SAHM and intend to stay that way so do I need to pay NI contributions now to be sure I get a pension in the long term?? I have tried to find out by googling but can't find the relevant info. I have tried ringing the NI office but they eventually say they are too busy to talk to me and cut me off! Does anyone know please

kazah you would have to fill in a UK tax return to pay them back and it's complicated. If you fill in a UK tax return anyway each year then it might be worth asking for the payments and saving them for the interest, if not then just do as I or Spindelina suggest above and claim but opt to not receive the payments. That way your dh gets the NI credits but you don't have to go through the hassle of doing a tax return.
