Have just sent our completed wills back to solicitor - grrr! And on top of that they are ones that offer the free will in Nov!!!! I haven't paid for it yet as they have made a few mistakes so taking ages to sort out!!!

bump for the evening crowd.

QuootieSpookypie - if it was a DIY will, I'd go and have the free wills through will week instead. Much better! DH makes far more money through sorting out DIY wills after deaths, than from writing a proper will in first place!

Gem13 · 04/10/2006 20:40

Thanks for that. We were only talking about it this evening as DH is about to get on his 6 flight this month and child number 3 is on the way. It's about time.

I'll contact my local participating one tomorrow.

Not quite free wills hula! 'Suggested' donation of £110 for mirror wills but it's good to know it's going to a good cause.

Aero · 04/10/2006 20:44

Strangely Gem it was dh's travelling away from home so much last year that made us get our backsides into gear over this. We just found a way to afford it, but I think this is great for anyone who genuinely can't afford to have their wills done.

But that is only optional, and goes to the charity ot the partner's profits. A mirror will is about that cost - Dh charges a little bit more.

Thanks Aero. Been meaning to make a will now I have DS to think of & since DP & I aren't married, this is just what I needed.
My grandfathers apparently didn't make wills & both my parents had stepmothers who inherited under intestacy rules. Somehow I don't think my grandparents would have been happy to know their children had no help from their estates.

hooley - thats awful but the law is law I guess. Am sooo pleased we have sorted ours out (although having to pay full whack as didn't know about willaid month at the time).

Also going thru the rigmarole of setting up life assurances into trust funds for our daughter as I didn't realise should she inherit these she will have to pay IHT on them - it's robbery!! For info (prob not useful but there you go!), if a trust is set up for this sort of thing the money goes to your beneficiary much quicker than if it were to go thru a will and into an estate. I didn't realise that a will take can months to sort - even if it is all in 'tip top' condition...... Sorry I digress

Pleasure hooley.

Useful digression Twohoots!
