Tax Credit & Childcare Voucher Question Please

Hi

I'm in the process of separating from H and am trying to work out finances (an exciting Saturday evening I know!).

We have 2 DC in childcare (one in nursery, one using wrap around school care) and we both take Childcare Vouchers as part of our salary.

H has said he'll keep on buying his & 'give' them to me to pay the monthly fees, as part of his monthly maintenance payment for the DC

My question is this, when applying for Tax Credits do I report my childcare costs as half of what they are, on the basis that H will be paying half too.

Or do I report the full amount, as in reality H will be paying part of his child maintenance as Childcare Vouchers.

TIA Thanks

Hiya, our situations are strikingly similar but im a bit further down the line as i remember the form asks for the cost of childcare after vouchers have been used as they have a tax free element so you can't claim or it would be claiming twice, my soon to be EXH has chosen to pay vouchers as part of his monthly maintenance but i don't get any personal tax benefit from them so i claim for what i pay for after my vouchers have been taken into account, give them a call and check i have found them incredibly helpful, best of luck

Thanks onion, that's helpful

I notice there was something on the web page stating that I might be better off NOT using ccvs at all & claiming help for childcare instead - did they run through that with you? I couldn't find any more info about what help might be available

I think the money saving expert website has a section to help you work off if it's beneficial to use childcare vouchers.
