DH in RAF? Benefit Payments advice pls!

Am pulling my hair out and getting nowhere fast! My DH is in the RAF and we are busy getting our wills sorted at the mo (have one 17 mth old DD and if we both died together would obv leave everything to her). I can't get an answer from anyone regarding the payment of DH's pension and death in service payment to her should we both die together. I basically want to know if it gets paid to her via DH's/our Estate (and therefore is subject to IHT) or does it get paid into a Trust somewhere and therefore not part of the Estate and so (prob) not likely to be subject to IHT. This really does make a difference to us as our wills (which are being written at the mo) are straightforward wills but if the RAF payments were included in the Estate then we would need to do 'IHT' planning wills as it would take us over the threshold which is a different ball game.

Solicitor can't help as they can't get a definite answer and a Financial Adviser can't help as they don't have access to this info, I've tried but been quoted Data Protection and told DH will have to deal with it (and my DH is as useless as a chocolate teapot and I don't even think understands what I am on about so don't trust him to get it right!!). Arghhhhhh!!

Anyone in the RAF or have an RAF DH who knows the answer in black and white please??

it is a fairly basic question, why don't you get your dh to find out who to direct the question to, then YOU draft the email, and get dh to send it to the relevant person.

then it will be all in writing and you know you'll have the right answer to the right question, and can forward it straight to your solicitor.

Oh QPH - if only life were that simple (like DH -bless him). I shall try that one though - it MAY work - if he can find the right person to address it to. I think the two payments may be seperate issues - men eh????
