If I take a second job how will that affect my tax etc?

I work 30hrs a week, increasing my hours at work will be of no benefit as I'll have to pay for childcare so what I'm thinking of doing is taking a few bar shifts a week at the local pub in the evenings to top me up.

Will this affect my tax of my main job if so how? Do I need to tell my main employer?

I think you'll just be taxed at the usual 20%

It makes me laugh because my first job is 10 hrs and my second is 3 hrs week. I don't pay tax on my first but do on my second.

Gits.

Thanks. I'm just worried it'll not be worth the exhaustion of doing it iyswim.

I'm currently being left with £40 a week after bills and petrol alone is £55 every fortnight

If you have a basic rate tax code (1000L) and earn less than 10000 in one job you can split you tax code so that you are using all of your personal allowance on both jobs. The same should apply for you also gamer.

With all employers using RTI the tax office will be aware that you have 2 jobs. Just call them and explain that you are not using all your allowance on your main job and would like to split your tax code with second job.

I am sure what I say is correct, if not someone more knowledgeable will be along to correct me Grin .
