How much credit should I have?

I've lived in my rental house since 28th November last year.

I've got £500 credit! I've just requested a £200 refund.

I had my DD amount lowered from £106 to £93 in march but I'm not sure if to request any more?
(Could really do with it!)

Is the credit for the rent? Utility bill?

Argh I'm such an idiot.

It's my dual fuel gas and electric with Eon

The thing to be mindful of is that you tend to overpay in summer and underpay in winter, so you are often in credit at this time of year.

That said, £500 is a huge amount. Do you know what your usage was last winter? You could work it out and see if there's a big difference.

Alternatively, if you need the money now but know you'll have the money later to increase payments or clear a debit figure, ask for most of it. It depends on you situation really.

I did think 500 was a huge credit! I'm very glad it's a credit not a debit though!

I have a selection of metre readings

27th November 2013

04827 electric
04888 gas (estimate from first bill. I have lost the reading from When I moved in!)

27 February 2014

05196 electric
05899 gas

31st may 2014

05521 electric
05948 gas

Today 05847 electric
05973 gas

I hope that helps. I might ask for another 100 refund so there's still a nice chunk left over to cover towards the winter! Smile

It looks like you can't bank on that first gas reading as it was an estimate. Shame you don't have the actual reading.

Like I said, only ask for more back if you will have the money to repay as debit you end up in after the winter.

Q1 : was it at zero when you moved in? (if not SORT IT)
Q2 : do you need the money today or wouldthe spreading of the bills actually be useful?
