Csa and bonus payments

Dh pays maintenance for ss through the CSA. We have no issue with paying and are not in arrears or anything. We currenyly have no contact with ss or his mother.

Back story is that dh offered to pay directly to her and provide a copy of his monthly payslip but she has insisted on using the csa, I think in part because she knows they are a nightmare.

Dh is about to start a new job and getting a pretty big signing on bonus paid to him over the first 3 months.

How will the csa deal with this? We have no objection to paying what we owe but knowing how useless the csa are I'm worried that they'll set the payments so high based on his first 3 payslips that we won't be as to afford it once the bonus payments stop.

Also dh loses his personal allowance and has to pay approximately £3k a year extra tax, so far we've just let it go but how will the csa deal with this when its paid from his annual return.

Just to reiterate we are happy to pay but just want to know how the csa deal with this scenario.

DH recently got a payrise and called to let the CSA know, they took all the details from his payslip and changed the schedule immediately, he did not even need to send the payslip in. They have relaxed the rules for what they term as 'compliant' non-resident parents who are increasing maintenance payments. Reading between the lines, I would guess the majority of NRPs do not call at all to report increases in salary (a couple of men that I work with expressed surprise that my DH would increase payments willingly Shock).

The previous time he got a payrise he had to send 3 months payslips in, one had a small bonus on it but they calculated from the two 'regular' payslips. They've always been very fair about it and I would probably just call and explain the situation.

Thank you, that's the problem previously they wanted 3 months payslips then take about 3 months to work it out so then you're 6 months behind before you even start.
The easiest thing would be just to send ss mother a cheque for the % of bonus but the no contact causes problems there.
I will ring them and see
