Cheeky request! Is there an accountant out there who can check something for me?

I'm trying to work out what tax my husband would be paying if he accepts a new job in Gibraltar. I've got guidelines but it is rather complicated and just need someone to check that I am doing it correctly. I don't want you to do it for me as that would be really cheeky

Individuals are charged to tax on their taxable income which is arrived at by deducting personal and other allowances from the assessable income at the following rates:

For every pound of

the first £4,000 of taxable income - 17%

the next £6,000 of taxable income - 30%

the next £5,000 of taxable income - 35%

the remainder of the taxable income - 45%

Allowance for wife and child 5905

this

I dont undrestand how I have to work out the percentages.

For example 45000 or 35000

Thank you so much, it's doing my head in.

generally you'd take the allowance off and then work out the tax so say it was £45,000 you'd take off £5905 then work out tax on the rest of it. That would leave £39,095 so
£4000 at 17% = £680
£6000 at 30% = £1800
£5000 at 35% = £1750
Rest at 45% = £39095-£4000-£6000-£5000=£24095 at 45% = £10,843

Total tax = £15073

i cant seem to link it to the actual page, it's government and services and then taxation. Sorry to be a pain.
