I changed my name because of domestic violence as I dont want my ex to track me down. However I have decided I want a divorce but is this possible now I have changed my name. How do I get a divorce without disclosing my new name

ask for advice at Citizens advice or book a free 30 minute consultation at a solicitor but my dp is currently getting divorced and there were all sorts of confidentiality things on the form to keep info hidden from your ex.
as you were married in previous name i would gess divorce papers would need to be filed in that name anyway and they can def. hide your address, we've done it x hth x

Beware of CSA - they are totally crap about this. An acquaintance is now on her fourth name change...

Hi. When you file your petition at the court, there's a bit for your name and it then goes on to say whether you've changed your name since the marriage. You or your solicitor need to say on the petition that you were formerly known as (married name) and now known by a name which you do not wish to disclose to the respondent. You file at the same time an affidavit setting out the new name and expaining the circumstances. You can also use this procedure to get around the prob. of him knowing your current address. The court staff will then send your ex the petition but not, obviously, the affidavit so that he's kept in the dark. If you have c hildren, you've also got to file a statement of arrangements, outlining their accomodation, school etc so again this info should be in the affidavit, not the statement. This whole procedure takes a bit longer than a bog standard divorce, as the district judge needs to see the papers before they're formally issued. Any other probs, just ask (I'm a family law specialist).
