How to transfer £200 overseas

DS is in Hong Kong and is a twat has forgotten his pin number, and now cannot draw out any more cash.

We are going to have to try and transfer money out to him. There seem to be a lot of websites that do this, but how does it work in terms of picking the cash up?

If you can get to a Western Union branch tomorrow you can transfer with either 24 hours or in minutes (costs more). You'll need to fill a form to send then he can go to a Western Union branch in HK and fill in a form to receive.

Can he use paypal in any way?
Could he go into a branch of his own bank out there and they might help him out if he has his passport?
Does he have a different card - I always take a debit and 3 credit cards abroad in case some don't work.
Is he there for work in which case his employer might be able to help?

Be careful. Once a month I get a well known scam email from various contacts of mine who have been hacked into which says the person is abroad and lost their card and can we send cash. Never ever do this. In your case make sure you speak to him in person before sending a penny,.

Not a scam - we have spoken to him. He only has one card, because he is a student - and no credit card because he doesn't trust himself not to get into debt.

EnglishGirl, Western Union looks like a runner - there is an agent not far from where he is staying, and it looks as if we could do our end online.
Another option is to transfer money to one of the people he is travelling with, who is not such an idiot, although calculating exchange rates and charges might be complicated.

Thanks for the help.

Honestly go with Western Union. Where I work is an agent and security is taken seriously and he can't withdraw without the transfer ID etc. so its as safe as you can get outside of his bank. Good luck.

why not just do an electronic transfer to the bank and he go into a branch to draw it out
or paypal
