so... have just bought a house on a council estate in north london. well, about 30/70 private/council.

anyway, has seperate parking regulations from normal roads... eg - parking bays and no yellow lines elsewhere on the roads, but you arent allowed to park there.

  1. you can rent a parking bay. but there are fewer parking bays than houses.

  2. the roads are very wide, so that when, for example, residents with diability permits park, there is still enough room for a bus to go down. inspite of the space, there is no way one can park there.

  3. there is no way of getting visitors permits. (and the nearby roads are just about to be made residents only.)

so the upshot is that according to their rules, people who live on (this) council estate are not entitled to park there. or have visiting friends park. which seems like discrimination. and i want to do some thing about it. anyone experienced the same/know of any precidents elsewhere?
