Because i've just had a look at mine and i'm nosey

NW = Assets - Liabilities

Assets include:

Cash (Cash in hand, savings etc)
Investments (Stocks etc)
Personal (house cost, car cost, home furnishings, jewelry etc)
Retirement (Pension etc)

Liabilities include:

Unsecured (Credit card, student loan etc)
Secured (Mortgage, car loan, home equity loan etc)

Mine (which includes my partner as everything is joint so impossible to seperate) came out at +£10,000 (but that doesn't include any pension as i don't have an estimate yet).

Not sure what i think of that to be honest but it killed 5 minutes.

Interesting that the people doing ok are in their mid forties (most of them) and saying things change from your late 20's.

I'm not sure it will change so dramatically for people in their early 30's and younger. The cost of living is now so high and they can't ride the crazy property boom that slightly older people did.

Massiveaggressive · 11/07/2014 20:44

I have no idea the thought of trying to add up all that stuff on a Friday night for the sake of an MN thread....

love the nonchalant 3 mil

Very MN

seasidesally · 11/07/2014 20:48

racmun couldnt agree more,i bought 23 years ago when my 3 bed detached was valued at £48k now £240k

i have visions of my children living at home for a very long time, with two teens and a younger one the house is getting small and would love to extend or move but just cant afford it

though i count my blessings that we have security of a morgage free home,im on benefits and find it hard to keep up with the maintanance ,but when i hear of HB changes, renting problems i count my blessings that we are fortunate, the younger generation i really feel for, unless they have wealthy parents i dont see how they stand a chance

Around £1m.

Bought a 1 bed flat at 21, made redundant within months, lived in one room and rented the other when I went to uni at 25. I've always had lodgers when cashflow was tight (still do now!). The property market in the South-East has got me here and having multiple jobs as and when necessary (full-time day job and nights in a club in my 20's).

I'm early 50's and single. My parents didn't help with the deposit and the only inheritance I've ever had has just materialised (£100k).

whattodoforthebest2 · 12/07/2014 09:14

Btw, I still have a mahoosive mortgage!

-€10600 or so. We're in negative equity and likely to be for a long time yet.

Pinkandpurplehairedlady · 12/07/2014 11:54

marne2 · 12/07/2014 12:09

About £8000 Sad, we have no dept and no mortgage.

PisforPeter · 12/07/2014 12:17

It's not liquid cash, most is tied up in property tbh.

Lonecatwithkitten · 12/07/2014 13:57

Very little cash, but as a single parent having just bern through a messy divorce, I am incredibly proud of in the region of 700K. Mainly tied up in my business.

Apatite1 · 15/07/2014 11:17

No idea! Few hundred k in liquid assets. Inheriting few million in property, but hopefully not any time soon!

Southpaws · 15/07/2014 11:28

Early 30's and about £200,000. Most of it is equity in the properties we own rather than liquid capital.

Droflove · 24/07/2014 15:06

Love the posts over 500k, would love to be there. Nice one.
