Yet another electricity problem, anyone with npower?

When dh and I started with npower our electricity was estimated at about £50 per month, it was then put up to £79 as we were using more and to pay off the arrears.

Today we have received our latest bill with a statement saying that once a year we will receive a 'settlement bill'. This shows that we are £159 in arrears and this will shortly be deducted form our account AS WELL AS OUR REGULAR PAYMENT!!!

Is anyonewith npower and can you remember what you signed for at the begining, if we have agreed on our signing on forms that this is going to happen, I can't see that we have an argument about it, but if we haven't does anyone think that we can refuse to pay it as a lump sum as we really really don't have a spare £159 hanging around

TIA

I would call them and discuss a payment arrangement. As far as I know most companies will come to an agreement about paying arrears off over an agreed time. I don't think they will expect you to pay it off at once.

You really need to call them to put your mind at ease though. HTH.

be careful, they put our bills up really high on an estimate, and ended up owing us £400. i called customer services, rather than the main number, when I had a problem, and they were much better at sorting it out (and answered the phone quicker too)

thank you, I'll give them a ring and let you know how I get on
