Hi there, this is the first time I've every written on here but I've always found some fantastic advice from other peoples threads in the past. The reason I'm posting today is that I am going to have register a dramatic change in circumstances with tax credits and wondered if anyone could advice me how if they know the change will effect my family and I. As of Friday I have had to remove my youngest ds from his childminders with immediate effect as my ds has made an alligations against his male childminder of assault, my ds is 7 and in receipt of hight rate dla and low rate mobility and is a waiting an assessment for autism, he has regular meltdowns if not handled correctly and suffers servers behavioural and emotion problems. Im obviously reporting the incident to ofsted as is my childminders who are a couple both registered. I confronted them about my sons alligations, this had been denied. I'm sickened by what my ds has told me and I cannot put my ds with another childminder his condition needs constant supervision and I need to know he is safe and well cared for I don't feel I could trust anyone out of the family again to take care of him, anyway I work 30 hours per week I've had a long talk with my ds's father who I re established a relationship with last year but was not ready until now to live with we have now decided he should move in with us to help my ds with his daily care needs as I cannot trust another child care provider, my child's father currently lives on his own and claims esa, FINALLY ..... My question is I currently recieve child and working tax credits for me and my 12 year old and 7 year old inc dla element High rate I know it will be a fresh claim when my child's father moves in can he still claim his esa or will this stop, I don't claim hb or ctb I pay my own rent and council tax. Sorry for the life story xx

I would go on the gov.uk website, there is a section on benefits.

You will do a joint claim rather than a single. Remember your tax credits will stop in the interim though so make sure you can manage on your wage. I work a full week and get help with rent and council tax.

Has your partner done much looking after of your ds as that might be quite hard work particularly if you are struggling financially- I am not patronising you I was in a similar position.

Dla remains the same and remember you get extra help with tax credits and housing benefit if in receipt of dla.

That's as much as I know. Not sure about ESA as you are in a relationship and he will be a sahd.
