My friend nd her husband are both on career breaks at mo, and are both returning in oct part-time, both over 16 hours a week, BUT they only need childcare for less than 12 hours a week. Will they get help with childcare costs? (I dont know for sure, but im sure their joint income parttime will be over 45k anyways)

It's based on the hours the parent works, not the hours the child is baing cared for. However, with a joint income of £45k I would suspect they won't get a great deal of help, if any.

Yeah, that what I thought, but even if its a £5 a week, itd be better than nothing!
