Does anyone know about voluntary redundancy, saving and tax credits?

think it does count as earnings - don't think you can hide it away - wouldn't it show up on your p60 or p45 at end of year? I know

bonuses etc are always counted as income which isn't always nice either and is fully taxed

The first £30K of redundancy payments are tax free - i.e. not counterd as earnings. So you wouldn't pay tax on it. AFAIK WFTC doesn't take into account savings, so you should be ok on that front too.
