Which Bank Would You Chose?

DH and I have gone over our finances - great bank holiday monday! We're currently with Yorkshire Bank; having just tried to amend a standing order and been unable to do it, we want to move to a bank where everything is available to do online and where we don't (uless absolutley necessary) have to visit a branch to amend things. Which one(s) would you recommend. I hasten to add that we are looking to open a basic housekeeping account only! TIA
Oh yes, and I think ALL banks are nasty establishments who screw us out of money!

another vote for smile. their customer service is very good - all by secure message from their website, but they're very prompt at replying. money transfers are very easy. paying cheques in via prepaid envelopes, or at the post office. and they're ethical, so your money isn't invested in funding wars

Another question - if we were to open, say two accounts, if we were to transfer monies from one to another, would the transfer be immediate? I ask because if you do this with Yorkshire Bank and the accounts don't have the same sort code it takes the same amount of time as if you were moving from one completely different bank to another i.e. 4 working days....amazing isn't it?!?!?!?!?! that you can use your switch card in the most obsure place and the debit is immediate, but the other way round......

Also, the Co-Op are about to revitalise the Divi scheme and convert it to loyalty points payable on EVERYTHING they offer, including banking.
No-one else has mentioned Lloyds TSB yet. They have often ranked top of the Big Four in past Which Money surveys and I have been very happy with them through skint and flush (mostly skint).
If we were to change I'd go with Smile I think.

I've never banked with Lloyds, and have only one data point on them.
My fomer landlady had a rather nice job at IBM, and was actually in effect my boss. Don't know what exactly she earned, but she had a 5 bed house and a collectors item sports car which she'd bought.
She split up with her boyfriend, who she was living with, but with no joint account, so there was no connection except the shared mortgage.
But they both banked with Lloyds.
She had her credit cards, cheque card and ATM card cancelled immediately, even though she was quite robustly solvent and in a serious job.
