Do I get a P60 if I'm on job seekers

I was working until December when I got made redundant and received my p45

I've since been claiming contribution based JSA which I'm told is a taxable benefit and classed as income so I need to add this to my earnings for tax credits

Will I receive a p60 from either the job centre or my former employer and if I've over paid tax will I have to claim it back or will it be done automatically?

I've never had to deal with this as I've been employed for 18 years -embarrassed having to ask Sad

Your former employer should send you a P60 for your earnings April to December.
Not sure about the job centre, guess you need to ask them next time you go in to see them.

No that is not correct Cindy. A P60 will only be issued for those who were employed by the company at 5th April.

As job seekers is operated under the PAYE scheme you should receive your P60 from the benefits office. The deadline for them to supply it is 19th May.

When i was in this situation the benefits office sent my P60 and also a cheque for overpaid tax, I didn't need to claim it, quite quickly if I recall, in May I think.

It was a Certificate of pay and taxable benefit and tax deducted/refunded and had my earnings from my job on it and also the JSA, so everything together.

Don't be embarrassed, i've been employed for years and have been made redundant three times, and claimed JSA. Good luck with the job hunting.
