Hi there. This is my first post and i'm a bit bewildered to be honest!?!?!?

Hope i am posting this in the right place. I bought my DD a pair of startrite shoes yesterday, took her to the shop got her all measured etc, when we got home i put them on her and left her to play, when i took then off she had a big blister on her ankle bone. What are my rights ?? can i take them back even though they've been worn ??? or is it normal to wear shoes in as we do?? shouldn't think so in babies??

anyway thanks for any advice

xx

You certainly can take them back! Babies shoes should not rub, I took some back to Clarks when DD was about 3 - she had worn them outside and when we got home, they had rubbed her ankle until it was bleeding.

I was furious and insisted they replace them with a better fitting pair. They did so without argument.

Welcome to MN by the way

Yes definitely take them back and don't be at all apologetic! That is terrible!

MamaG · 25/08/2006 09:23

Oh and the rule is - you have to let us know how you get on

Well, took them back and managed to get a replacement pair by ECCO?? much softer than the startright ones. Manager tried it on a bit saying that i should have been told only to let her wear them for half hour at a time cos startright shoes were a lot stronger/stiffer than clarks to support the foot, and baby's skin was so fragile anything could rub it????? Isn't that why we spend all this money on good fitting shoes? so we don't have these problems??

Oh well, its done now, although did cost me a bit more than the original shoe, woman said she understood my concern as i was a first time mum grrrr - how patronising!

Thanks for the advice

glad it's sorted, but what a load of bollocks that you had to pay more.. what about the inconvenience for you having a blistered child, when they didn't advise you correctly, and then having to drag her back to shops to get it sorted while she had a sore foot. i would have had a major tantrum.... oh and welcome

Unfortunately shoe fitting doesn't get any better as they get older. Theres loads of threads here about how crappy some fitters are! Like you say - you think you are paying for a) good fitting and b) good shoes, but that isn't the case.

I would try somewhere else next time.
