bank charges- get them back!

Many people have been charged hefty fees by their banks.

It turns out these fees are unlawful; thousands of people have successfully reclaimed millions of pounds.

The banks turn and squirm, plead and threaten, but always eventually give in and refund you money.

Find out-

  • how to find out what you bank has charged you over the last six years
  • a free spreadsheet for calculating what to claim, including interest
  • standard letters for you to send to your bank after filling in the amounts
  • addresses to send you letters to
  • how to use the government moneyclaim site if your bank does not pay up
  • how to send the bailiffs round to collect the cash

Just go to www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk and register free. Then see and read the FAQs.

You do not need to pay anyone for their services - just the ?10 Data Protection Act fee to your bank to obtain your past six years' statements, and the court fee of about ?20 to ?120 (which you can recover in your claim or if you are in receipt of benefits you may be able to claim excemption from paying the court fees.)

I am currently claiming just under £2500 from Natwest, the issue has been served and Im am waiting to hear wether they have entered a defence.

If youve got bank charges, you can claim back to 6 yrs ago + interest

I thought it was going to be so hard but its so straight forward once youve read up on it

good luck! Lizx

ps, sorry to mumsnet towers if this post is not allowed, I just want to tell everyone about this as there are so many conmen out there charging for this service when you can do it easily yourself

im seriously tempted to claim as have been stung several times, have just had a letter from my bank to say im being charged 30 pounds for being overdrawn by 12 pounds for one day!

goldendelicious · 26/08/2006 23:20

Spacecadet - go for it get the letters done! There a few on the other thread who have got money back, and worst that can happen is they say no (unlikely tho apparently). I've just requested all my money back so will see what happens now!

Busyalexsmummy · 27/08/2006 07:09

go for it! there hasnt been a known case yet where it has actually gone to court and the defence has turned up, they are settling out of court, or not turning up on court day, so you win by default anyway.

youve got nothing to lose!

Anyone dealt with MBNA credit card??

wishfulthinking · 28/08/2006 17:31

Only in so much as having one goldendelicious - why, are they screwing you in charges too?

goldendelicious · 28/08/2006 19:31

DH had credit card with them while he was at uni - he had LOADS of charges with them, anyway we've requested a list of charges and got it back, comes to just over £900. Just wondered what they were like to deal with as regards getting the money back!
