namechanged for obvious reasons.
a family member of mine is commiting benefit fraud, I have only know a few days and im pondering what to do -apparently it has been going on for years Shock
I am so mad because me and dh have 3 dcs and work every hour god sends to provide for them.
I have half filled out a dwp report fraud form but im worried it would get tracked back to me using ip address or something.
anyone advise me please?
thanks

I think you can report fraud anonymously and you're right to be annoyed. Just make sure that you've got your facts straight before going ahead.

You can report it anonymously. It will not be tracked.

DownstairsMixUp · 25/04/2014 09:51

It won't get tracked back to you but I'd make sure you have all the facts and if children are involved I'd be a bit wary and maybe find a way of telling the person involved if they are being blase about it they should be careful, since these things do tend to come back on you.

Agree with last post to a point. A long time ago I had a friend who was very blasé about the fact she was working whilst on benefits. I warned her to either come clean and stop claiming benefits, or be more discreet. She did neither and got caught. She then proceeded to blame me for informing benefits agencies about her working.
I'd be inclined to get all the facts and inform DWP and keep my mouth shut.

WanderingAway · 25/04/2014 23:48

I would report it. There is no need to tell them that you have reported them

You dont need to provide your name when doing it

Hoppinggreen · 26/04/2014 09:01

You don't need to get all the facts or proof. If you report your suspicions it will be up to the DWP to see if they are committing fraud.

naty1 · 26/04/2014 19:49

If youve only known a few days surely they will know its you anyway.

DownstairsMixUp · 26/04/2014 21:58

Hoppinggreen people's benefits get stopped while they investigate. Some people aren't comitting fraud then have to go weeks maybe months without anything for NO reason, that's why it's best to get the facts straight first.

Are you absolutely sure it is benefit fraud?

A person claiming esa can do some work and receive some payment without putting their benefit at risk .A loan parent can also do some work and receive wages up to a point before it affects their benefit. So if this is what you see then be aware all is not what it seems.

Once you are sure then definitely go ahead.
