I have a life cover/ critical illness policy through scottish widows via lloyds tsb.

I dont need the cover as i also have policies through my work and can do without paying out extra money every month.

before i ring them, does anybody know if it is possible to cancel these types of policies- or am i just stuck with it?

I have read through my T&c's and there is nothing about cancelling.

I cancelled mine once - I didn't get any money back at all though and the bloke who sold it to me was pretty cross about it (lost his commission I guess) but they can't make you carry on paying

how long into the policy did you cancel it? mine has been running for a year.

only a couple of months.
I realised that I had been bullied into it really and my union found me a better option.

I also feel that i was pressured into it, even though i already had cover through a work policy.

ill go into the branch tomorrow

I cancelled a life insurance policy. It was life cover only, no critical illness. I'd had it for about 10 years, it had 15 years left to run. It wasn't the kind of policy where you get money back if you don't claim so obviously I didn't get, or expect, any refund

Mine was with the Prudential, I phoned them and told them I didn't need the policy any more then cancelled the direct debit. I did get a couple of letters over the next 3-4 months asking why I had cancelled the direct debit and saying if I don't make alternative arrangements for payment the policy would be cancelled but I just ignored them seeing as I'd already asked them to do exactly that
