Is anyone a landlord or know anything about this...legally?

Have changed my name. But had an horrendous day yesterday with the property next door which is multi-occupancy. A tennant, well known drug dealer and heroin addict, broke into the property (he had been evicted) with another bloke who had a weapon. Terrorised many of the other tennants, climbed onto the property roof and started smashing up windows. Luckily police got there pretty quick, but although the landlord has been notified the property has been left unsafe. There is glass all over the front garden and roof. Windows have been put through both at the front and the rear of the property. there seems to be no sign of the landlord and I am very concerned that (A) these people will break back in or (B) someone else will as its very unsafe. Is he legally bound to come and tidy up/make secure the property within a given timescale?

Not sure if he's legally oblidged to clear up TBh but it's obviously his responsiblity to make it safe....

actually tidying it could be his choice but making it safe could be alegal thing....

not much help really I am I??!

It is his duty to make it safe, etc, nextdoorarenobs phone the local council now and report the situation.

Possibly environmental health? But you can ring your Town Hall and explain the problem and they'll put you through to the right bods.

I am bumping this again incase anyone else knows where we can from here.....

I have rang the council and they dont know what to do/cant do anything

envrionmental health cant help either and say it has to be sorted out with the landlord, who is very elusive by all accounts

The police were unable to get in touch with the landlord yesterday so the people in question couldnt even be charged for criminal damamge!!!

Windows are still in the same state they were in yesterday and the property is still unsecure.
