When can I ask for an increase in maintence payments from the father of my child??

I am a single parent of a 2 yrs 6 months toddler, I get regular monthly maintenance from her father direct into my bank account. DDs father does not want to play any part in her life and thats his choice. I know very little when it comes to financial matters - should I be asking him to increase the maintenence he gives me or expect it to remain the same? I dont want to sound greedy but at the same time I would be a fool to miss out on extra maitenance if I am entitled. DDs father is quite well off - I am not! What are my rights? can anyone help? Thankyou

I am in a similar situation, I agreed to $500 a month when DD was born and I now am pretty sure he earns an awful lot of money and could afford more.
However DD is not starving and I know lots of people who are entitled to maintence and indeed have court orders for it and don't receive a penny, so I kind of feel I should be happy to get anything at all.
I know what answer I would get if I asked for more, I guess only you know how he'll react.

I had xh assessed by CSA 5 years ago when we split up, (£14.33 a week for 2 kids ) but he paid direct to me, now he thinks he is being generous to be increasing it (hasn't happened yetthough!) to ............

.£30 a week!

I don't want to rock the boat but I think that inflation should come into it , also taking into account payrises etc,but if you are not assesed by the CSA then you go to them it may actually decrease, so see if you can do a check first before making it official.

I have been wary of going down the CSA route as I am not sure if I would get a decreased amount. Maybe I should just leave it as I dont want to waste my energy trying to extract more money and more importantly, it means I would not have to get in touch with him, which is less stress for me.
