Anyone know a good solicitor for obstetric negligence in shropshire

Had awful del. 15 years ago which has since resulted in several operations "down below " and years of poor health.Advised to have hysterectomy couple of years ago but managed to fend that one off for a while and just going for a smaller operation (again ).Is there anyway out of the 3 year time limit on claiming for medical negligence and if so can anyone recommend a good solicitor who deals specifically with obstetrics.Would need to be around Shropshire or could go into Cheshire ?
Anyone ever made a claim or had any experience with such ?
Finally anyone know any good websites that might help ?
Sorry its so long

My dh is a clinical negligence lawyer (I am NOT so this is just a layperson speaking, check everything with a lawyer!)

There is no way out as far as I know unless

  1. you didn't know about the problem (so in this case the 3 years start from date of discovery, eg if a surgeon left a scalpel in you and you had been having probs but they didn't find out about it for 5 years, you would then have 3 years)

  2. You are a minor in which case the 3 years starts from date of majority.

Olive Lewin at Leigh Day is good at this sort of thing, Tel020) 7650 1200. You don't have to have someone local. However I think she will advise that you are out of time. Sorry.

Thanks countess.
I am now beginning to realize i will probably have to give up my job at some point in the future.I am a midwife and cant really stand for long periods so unless i can find a desk job am stuck !
Its only now i wish i had sued because i really will need the money

Sleepymumof3, I have done the opposite really, but what countessdracula says is right. We followed up a case on behalf of our daughter (who is disabled) through a solicitor not local to us, it doesnt matter where they are - they will travel! The case for our daughter looks like it will be unsuccessful but she has said wholeheartedly that I would have had a case for myself as the hospital certainly were negligent. Too late though as it was 7 years ago now....

I would call Leigh Day and discuss it

You never know, their may be something I don't know about, eg if it has worsened a lot recently so that you have to give up work then that could be a new discovery?? Clutching at straws and no idea but if anyone will know she will.

Alanswife,
I`m sure you already know but your daughter has the right to sue i think until she herself is either 18 or 21 ? Thats terrible if they say its too late.I thought you had 3 years yourself or in the case of a disabled child until the child was 18 or 21 ??
Countess, thanks again.I have e mailed them with a brief round up so heres hoping. Wont hold my breath though !
