Hi have applied online for the above and think I might have got confused. I am sure I have been charged £69 but on hmso website it says £46. I can't understand difference unless I have applies for premium or some extra service. The email I have received is from passport.co.uk confirming receipt of application and giving me a reference number which it says you can't follow up until 3 weeks have elapsed.

I got duped by one of these rogue sites thinking I was on the official site. Anyway, sent a polite email to them today explaining what I'd done and they've agreed to refund me (minus an £8 admin charge) so at least I'm just £8 down now and not £46. Remains to be seen whether the refund reaches my account. .... but for anyone else who's veen had it might be worth a try.

M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 27/02/2014 20:30

Hi dowhat what site did you get a refund from? I still have had a reply from passport.co.uk.co

dowhat
I'd be interested to know which site because that is rather a floodgate they have just opened

ilovepowerhoop · 28/02/2014 08:03

although the one that gave a refund charged less than the site the OP used i.e. £46 rather than £69

M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 28/02/2014 15:56

I meant to say upthread I have not had a reply to my email!

OP posts:
dowhat · 01/03/2014 20:36

It was www.uk-passprt.net although I'm still waiting for the refund (to be fair they did say 3-5 working days amd it's been 2).

M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 02/03/2014 14:56

Thanks dowhat. Be good if you do get a refund.

I haven't received either paperwork back or an email back.

Quick update - I received an email asking for scanned copies of the incorrect information which I returned straight away. Since then I have heard nothing more from them despite several more emails from myself. I feel that they are completely ignoring me now that they know they are in the wrong. I'm going to email them again tomorrow and if I haven't heard from them by Monday I'm going to contact Which legal team for advice.

M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 12/03/2014 14:13

I received my copy too and unfortunately there is nothing wrong with it. Hope you get your refund.

I don't get it the website clearly says you pay an admin fee to them then the normal passport fee. Why the confusion has the website changed in the last day?

M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 12/03/2014 21:03

It's immoral and people have been unaware of the conditions as the disclaimer is in tiny print. Well it was on the website I used. Maybe some people see nothing wrong with the service but it proclaims to be HMPO throughout and misleads people.

OP posts:
SoonToBeSix · 12/03/2014 21:41

I think it's wrong yes , I just didn't get how it was confusing as it states it's a n additional admin fee and you still have to pay regular passport fees on top.

SoonToBeSix · 12/03/2014 21:42

I think they must have changed the website layout.

M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 15/03/2014 14:51

Update I was mistaken when I said there was nothing wrong with the application when it was returned to me. Turns out they have got my details wrong. I am going to email them like poster did above and see what happens now.

OP posts:
M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 19/03/2014 15:35

Well hallelujah getting a refund. Remains to be seen if it will happen but they have rescinded their original position and have admitted that they are in the wrong now.

TalkinPeace · 19/03/2014 16:31

let us know when it actually hits your bank .....

M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 19/03/2014 16:41

We'll see. However can't understand why they don't
just refund to credit card company. They are also for my sort code and bank account number. Maybe give credit card company a call and see what they say.

OP posts:
M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 20/03/2014 17:26

Today phoned credit card company who advised that they will allow refunds to the card. Emailed the company offering to refund who still insist they need my bank details and don't offer cheques or payment to a credit card. I am wary of giving them my bank account number and sort code and credit card company said ask them for confirmation of payment so if they rescind they can then raise a dispute. Has anyone else ever received a refund?

OP posts:
TalkinPeace · 20/03/2014 17:57

if you do not like giving out your sort code and accout number, make sure you never write a checque - as they and your signature details are all there ...

M1SSUNDERSTOOD · 20/03/2014 20:38

Fair point. Just wonder why they can't refund back to credit card. I am going to call the credit card company tomorrow and see what they say. After all this still don't have a passport!
