So I've changed utility, broadband and insurance providers. What next?

I've phone round and changed suppliers or bargained the current ones down. I'm overpaying the mortgage to save on interest and paying the phone line rental in advance. I've gone down a level with some of my food shopping.
What else can I do to save money?

Your tips are appreciated.

Avoid buying things you WANT but do not really NEED:

Magazines
Costa/Starbucks coffee - though fine as a treat
Clothes, Shoes - use those you already have. Only buy new if really needed.

Try keeping a list for a week of things you buy using cash... The little things add up, so by keeping track of what you buy you may find things to cut back on.

Have an occasional treat for doing so well with your saving, set yourself a goal and reward yourself when you meet it. Start with simple goal and then increase it as you achieve. You could start by saving £10 in one pound coins. If you do that, next goal could be to fill a smarties tube with one pound coins. Get into the habit of saving small amounts of money, putting it into a savings account.

Food shopping - meal plan and only buu exactly what you need for the plan. I went down a level but now I am activelt shopping at different shops to get the best prices.

Tesco delivery saver for main shop/store cupboard.
Aldi for meat and veg - got hte £5 voucher this week to use by 30th Jan. Very impressed with large butternut squash for 49p -
Registering with Sainsburys for £5 voucher mother and baby club. I will use this for nappies.

Before I just went to tescos or worse still the express after school run and buy the food for the evening meal inevitably it came to £10 plus the bits of extras.

I have parked out of town and walked in. I must have saved £12 month doing this. I plan what we are doing so we dont end up impulse spending especially on meals out.

Thanks. Good ideas. I don't have time to go round lots of different supermarkets, but have found Internet and delivery stops me impulse buying. Luckily I don't pass food shops on a day to day basis so don't tend to impulse food buy.
Guess I really ought to use up what is int he cupboard and freezer too before buying more. Cheers.

At the end of your mobile phone contract, switch to GiffGaff. I was paying £40p/m with O2 and am now paying £7.50p/m!

Use a debit card and don't carry much cash. I find I was taking £20 out to pay say £12 and then frittering the rest on magazines or a cuppa or lunch in a cafe etc. With a debit card, I only pay what the bill is, and then I have to think long and hard about taking the cash out for a treat at the cafe and surprisingly I can hardly ever justify it when I don't actually have the cash in my purse. Saved a fair bit each month by doing this.

carphone warehouse have lots of mobile phone deals at 7.50 to 8.50 a month

write down what you spend

is there anything you are paying d.debit for that is not necessary sky/ sky sports/ movies subscriptions to anything are you over insured for your house

don't scrimp on pension contributions or opt out if you work
