what sort of tribunal?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/07/2006 20:11

employment tribunal. Im claimant. Ex employers the respondent.

if you are in person and have no representative the tribunal will understand that you don't have procedural knowledge and should explain to you every step of the way what is happening and what happens next.
employment tribunals are not my field, so cannot really comment upon procedure. You should neither be or feel disadvantaged by a lack of legal representation

wishing you the best of luck

THank you.

Im just wondernig though, about witness statements, and if i am representing myself, do i need to draft a list of questions or something to ask the respondent? OR will the chairman be doing all of that to both sides? (They have representation)

You don't have to VVVQ but it will probably help you.

chipkid · 26/07/2006 20:53

i would def prepare yourself a checklist of the things you want to raise in x examination so that you don't forget anything.
The chairman should help you to formulate your points into questions if you find this difficult.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/07/2006 20:53

I dont know where to start though.....I dont want to repeat things too much that are in my witness statement. Do I ask questions about things that differ between their view of events and mine or what?

when i was not a dull boring sahm i worked in tribunals
they were set up with the intention of people representing themslves but sadly less and less do.

Dont be afraid to ask - be yourself - ask for time/break etc if you need it. Ask to have things explained more simply if it gets legal sounding. The chairman will respect that. where are you ?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/07/2006 20:59

London. Will be held at Watford.

Have got to face my ex boss. I dont know if im up to asking him questions about his witness statement. Do i need to do you think?

I just have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that i'm going to lose.

Which is daft really, because as such, I havent lost anything by doing this iykwim.

Well, except for 3 days annual leave from my new job as chairman has allowed for 3 days for this.

SenoraPostrophe · 26/07/2006 21:09

oh good luck, vvv.

if you lose, at least you'll know that you've cost your ex employer a lot in terms of time and money.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/07/2006 21:12

Well, yes - they have a barrister on it.

Cant believe they aren't interested in settling when all the witnesses have now been made redundant apparently, and so have they (the legal dept - as of end of august). So im told....

OP posts:
NotAnOtter · 26/07/2006 21:15

most settlements take place in the two days before or on the day
Have acas been involved?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 26/07/2006 21:19
