OK, sorry for this boring question but I can't find our lease paperwork and I am dreading sitting down rifling through my messy drawers (oo-er) in this HEAT!

Anyone know offhand whether this is the case? Our lease runs till 19th December, are we legally obligated to this or can we give notice?

We are under pressure from our vendors to complete in August, which would obviously leave us months to go on our lease still!

Anyone familiar with rental agreements??? TIA.

you usually are tied for the full 6 months, yes, unless it was a renewal contract, in which case there'll usually be a notice clause (could be one month or two)

however even if you are tied, most landlords will let you off subject to them finding new tennants. do you get on with your landlord/agent?

ooh, ohh this is a renewal! we signed for our second six months in June, so it sounds as if we are OK! Thanks Senora!

I don't think I can put off finding that bleedin' paperwork, can I. Why do I lose everything??

Thanks!

On my agreement, you're only liable up until a new tenant moves in but you may have to bear the cost of new agreements and inventory's etc. I seem to remember that I didn't have any costs (as the landlord) when my last tenant moved out. hth. Also you may have to give at least 2 months notive but I guess if you're moving anyway it won't make any difference.
