That's it really. I need a 'person authorised to take statutory declarations'

Don't know any solicitors (How can this be possible?)
Will a JP do it for me - if so how do I arrange it? Or is there anywhere you can go to get someone to do it?

am trying to avoid paying a no doubt fat fee to a solicitor if at all possible

oh have just seen by googling that local solicitor will only charge £5-£15 for this. does that sound likely?

All solicitors will do it, normally you can just walk in off the street and ask whether someone is available.

The Solicitors I work for charge £5-£7 for this you may want to give wherever you are going a quick call to check there is someone available that can do it.

i think court staff may do it for free, if you were totally skint it might be feasible to pop into your local court office and ask.

curlysmum · 02/08/2006 09:47

My local county court did this for me for free straight away , I had to read an oath type thing from a piece of paper and then a lady signed my forms

MrsJohnCusack · 02/08/2006 09:48

cheers everyone
local solicitor in the high street did it yesterday for a fiver. I was highly entertained at having to hold a bible and swear an oath - didn't totally realise that you still did this!
