DS has just found out that he will be off to uni in sept2014 and I am so proud of him! I need some advice about claiming for grants and loans.I've had a quick look online at the application forms and you have to submit evidence of savings and earnings etc.
Basically I have been living on an inheritance for the last 5years,not claimrd any support but now my savings have dwindled to about 15k.
Would I be entitled to help with uni fees and how would I state it on the grant forms etc
By the way I own my home outright
Thankyoufor your help and advice

You'd declare your taxable income as being any interest generated from your savings and then answer the rest of the questions as well as you can.

Surely it's your DS who will be applying for the fee loan and a student loan?

Fee loan will cover the cost of his course fees p.a. then the maintenance loan will be for his living costs, but depending on where he is studying it might not go very far i.e. London.

I think he can get 65% of the max amount without you having to declare your income or savings but anything above this is means tested.
