Mortgage with Virgin Money

Hello. Is someone able to help me with this one, please? I recently applied for a mortgage with Virgin Money. My broker said that the underwriters have looked at it as they kept asking for more information. Virgin has now instructed a valuation. Does anyone know if this means all is progressing well and that providing the valuation comes back OK, I will be offered the mortgage? This is stressing me out so much! Is there a chance that even if the valuation comes back OK I will still get turned down and lose the money I already paid? Thank you so much if you could help me with this one. You feedback is much apreciated.

Was recently in the same boat, once our valuation was instructed the mortgage offer should follow shortly. I was extremely anxious about it falling through and rang the bank regularly to see what stage we were at and they always were happy to tell me, you will need the mortgage roll number which you should have on correspondence from them, good luck!!

Wondered how you were getting on and if you had called them?

MK2014 · 10/01/2014 12:28

Hi. My broker told me that I have to wait until the valuation is done (being done this monday) and hopefuly they will send the offer after that. I am presuming the underwritters would have assessed the application before carrying out the valuation. Fingers crossed! Please let me know if you believe this to be different. Can't imagine they would spend our money on the valuation without having a good idea that we have a very good chance of bein accepted. Then again, stranger things have been known to happen. What do you think?

That sounds about right, same as us. Valuation carried out on the wed and I called the bank on the fri and they said offer was being sent by post, good luck!

Hi. Been told by my broker today that the mortgage offer is in the post! Thank you so much for putting my mind at ease. Presumably we have gone through the toughest bit! We are so relieved!

Hi I am currently in the process of mortgage application with virgin money I have the valuation this Friday but I was just wondering if anyone knows if the underwriters would have already looked through our documents or will that happen next? How long will it take from there to get an answer? I suffer really badly with anxiety so my nerves are through the roof just need some peace of mind as what happens next? Xx

We sold a house and our purchaser used Virgin money. They were horrific to deal with and nearly caused the chain to break through messing up.

They were incapable of reading surveyors reports and put holds on money, which they eventually agreed was unreasonable.

They filled paperwork after paperwork with incorrect details.

It took me resorting to Twitter to slag them off to get them to actually pull their finger out.

We went with Nationwide and from application to approval took 8 days. It took Virgin money 13 weeks to get to the same stage.

NEVER USE THEM!!!!!

Our mortgage is with Virgin Money (taken out last year). They were fairly slow (it was just after the mortgage market review) and did keep coming back for more bits of paperwork. But it did all go through without any problems as such, it was just a bit slow. Just keep ringing them for updates (or your broker if you have one). Try not to stress about it.

Thank you for your replies, I've pestered my broker daily which he has been fantastic in all fairness but I do feel like he won't tell me the full information almost like speaking to a robot he gives the same answers I do suffer badly with anxiety and I do feel like I'm not in control I just want a simple yes or no! I did think maybe trying to call virgin directly I was told it could take up to 3 weeks for a decision but my broker thinks I should know something by the end of the week so here is to hoping I know by Friday Smile thank you for your comments
