How do you go about validating/notarizing a signature in the UK?

I've tried a google search (unsuccessfully), and no one I've asked seems to know.

TIA.

I think it depends what it's for

I don't know what you want it for but we had to go and find a notary and get them to do whatever it is they do (validate it)

you can look one up or try here - find a notary

I just looked up the bloke we used and it only worked if I put in the first bit of the postcode not the whole thing so try that if you look one up!

it's a PITA medea ime.
have you tried a local solicitor, to see who they use?
what's it for?

Thanks everyone. Harpsichord, I'm asking on behalf of a friend from the Czech republic, who needs a signature notarized regarding her FIL's will. I've suggested maybe getting it done at her embassy or consulate--is that right? Failing that, I'll tell her to ask a local solicitor.

Yes, her Embassy should be able to help her, and if not they should be able to tell her if a notary can do the job for her. Swiss Embassy did this for a Swiss friend of mine who was living in UK.
