Can you claim tax credits if you have savings? I know there used to be a £16K limit - does this still apply?

So, morethan, what does that mean for anyone with a property they rent out? Is that a business?

reillys1 · 05/03/2018 20:28

And does anyone know do u need tell hmrc it or just on interest made. Thank you

For tax credits you can have as much in savings as you like but you have to declare any interest earned if it's over £300 a year.
You cannot claim Universal credit with capital over 16k.
