Changed my name for this, worked for someone last year, told tax credits when I started...slowly dawned on me it wasnt quite as legit as I thought it was and left 7 weeks later. Told tax credits. Now they want to see a p60 or payslips...I havent got any :( WTF do I do now?
It wasnt just me, a girl who has worked there for years had a letter saying her contributions werent up to date and would she like to add to them.
When I asked for a P60 or anything to say id earnt that money there she shook her head and said No I dont get involved in that sort of thing...

i didnt think they had a choice, i thought they had to give you a p60

was it a cash in hand job?

Gloworm · 14/06/2006 12:09

why dont you phone the inland revenue

bigworry · 14/06/2006 12:10

I guess it was, but me being honest declared it. I didnt realise at the time you see. And I left when I clicked that I wasnt going to be getting any proof of my working there.

They only have o provide P60 if you were working there on April 5th. Did you get a P45 when you left? If you haven't got any payslips I think you will need to contact Inland revenue with evidence of your net pay.

bigworry · 14/06/2006 12:14

no p45. no nothing.

bigworry · 14/06/2006 12:17

How did they pay you? If it was cheque, then you will be able to obtain a copy from your bank. They are legally obliged to provide you with a P60. But if it was cash, I suppose it's your word against theirs. Inland Revenue would certainly be interested though, I would have thought!

bigworry · 14/06/2006 12:37

cash...it was £20 for a few hours work.

Ring Tax Credits people. Explain the whole situation to them - that you took what you thought was a legit job and informed them accordingly and that you left immediately you realised it was dodgy. Provide Tax Credits with any info they want re the employer - they are the one in the wrong not you and as long as you keep it that way it should sort itself out.

Gloworm · 16/06/2006 12:22

hope you have managed to get it sorted Smile
