Nasty Neighbours - HELP !! - Please advise needed

Hi, I am so upset about my new neighbours and so want to retaliate in some way. Please I need some support because I think I am going mad. I have had enough , noise at night, noise during a day, weekends are awful, bbq every day and they start at 10-11 at night, bonfire in the garden, swearing, they even park their car (one of 4 ) in another neighbour disabled person bay and I could go on and on. These people are from Latvia and have no respect for anyone. Talking to them is out od option, we tried that and were sworn at and abused verbally. We live in a small terraced property and will be moving soon (not soon enough) I think they might be living or at least working and claiming benefits, it is also possible that the owner is renting rooms in her property (there are many of them in the property, at least 5-6 adults, some weekends up to 10-15 ...)and she does not know what the water ban is... I so want to make as much trouble for them as I can because they simply took the peace of mind from me . I cannot enjoy my home and garden anymore and coming home has become very stressfull. I run my company from home so there is not getting away from home and they always there at least some of them. They back and here we go loud music again, my blood pressure will hit the roof in a moment, HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am a cardiac arrest waiting to happen.

You right FioFio but because we do nothing they get worse with every week. Last night I had a dream in which I vandalised all their cars (4). This is how bad it is because I could not hurt a fly ... They get to me big time. I guess we have no choice , I will grin my teeth and wait for Moving Day. I cant report to the police nor the council because after that I would have report any incident to my lawyer and all the details would be passsed to my Buyer ...

ooooooooooooooooo, if you are selling be very very careful. One complaint to another neighbour/council/police could see you being sued for not declaring as you have rightly pointed out. I am sorry that you are going through this and really hope your move goes through soon. If you were staying you could contact the enviromental health bods who could help with the noise. Also if they are renting the house from a private landlord, you could try complaining to the lettings agency as it sounds like they are breaking the tenancy agreement.

clairemow · 12/06/2006 14:48

Sorry to hear about this, but agree with UCM. When you sell, as you say you'll have to fill in a SPIF form for the buyer, and one question asks about whether you've ever had to complain about a neighbour - you could be sued if you have complained and don't declare it.

When is moving day? Can you bear it until then? How about praying they go on an extended holiday? Was it ok before the hot weather? Could you decamp anywhere else to work?

bolekilolek · 12/06/2006 15:53

We should be moving in about 4-8 weeks. I am very careful , I talked to them once , asked politely to turn the music down ( it was well past midnight ..) they shouted abuse at me and that was it. I dont think it is something I would have to report on my SPIF?? Am I right ?

Providing you have not told anyone official, you should be ok. You are supposed to declare anything, but shouting at some Latvian who possibly didn't understand you and told you to go forth & multiply will not count I reckon Smile. If it comes on top tell em you were shouting at your cat.

sandradee · 12/06/2006 16:05

I agree with UCM et al - you do have to declare. If you were to make a complaint the police would tell you to contact your environmental noise pollution office - they would not recommend that you go round directly but the ENP would go round and tell them to be quiet. That however does get recorded so it is definitely in your best interest not to say anything given your situation.

That way when the new people move in you can honestly say that you knew nothing about it and it is not recorded anywhere. It's very good news that you are moving.

Once you move you could not do an anonymous tip off to the benefits people if you really want to get back at them. Send a letter without any contact details. They might not do anything but it would give you some satisfaction for all the misery they have put your through. Is that very nasty?

cece · 12/06/2006 16:05

Oh I am soooo sorry we had similar problmes with Slovakians..... We moved too..... Don't compalin or you will have to declare it..... How about a tip off to the water people about their hose pipe ban.? Oh and a very big and loud leaving party Grin

bolekilolek · 12/06/2006 16:36

As soon as we move I will shop them to Thames Water and Benefit people. Big leavng party is out of question , neigbour next door is old and ill , wouldnt do that to him. Thanx for your support guys !!!
