That's it really! my partner will have been in his job for 10 years but i will only be starting work full time next summer, so I'm worried we wont get a mortgaged based on what i earn too... (we are hoping to buy a place next summer and should have about 30% deposit)

Things have probably changed since my day but if you've been in a permanent job for over a year you should be ok.

my understanding is you have to have passed any probationary period.

Depends on the lender. If you have just a contract in place done will accept you. Speak to a mortgage broker they will have seen it all before.

Permanent contract and outside of any probationary period.

I got a mortgage when I was an agency worker. It was 2006 though, things may have changed.

When hubby and I got our most recent mortgage we had both just started jobs, it worked out much easier to do it through a broker to only look at the ones they knew would accept people in probationary periods.
