Can I get JSA?

Hi. I'm not working much at the moment and have some income from investments. I''ve been paying NI as a self-employed person to maintain my entitlement to state pension.

Can I claim , Job Seekers'Allowance (I'm genuinely looking).

Thanks.

If you have savings under £16,00 you can get income based, if not it is done on your NI contributions & for a maximum of 6 months.

Thanks. I have savings, but I''ll try the other option.

16,000 that should be.

How many hours are you working per week?

Generally, self-employment NI contributions will only count towards your pension, but not contribution-based JSA. The income-based JSA depends on your savings - max £16k but it's reduced once savings are over £6k. If you have a partner, you have to make a joint claim for income-based.
