Credit score of 919 so why do I get refused credit?

Have just been through my credit records, expecting to find a load of outstanding debts due to the fact that I keep getting refused for credit.
However, I have a score of 919 and no outstanding debts.
Why do I keep being refused?

I've had a similar issue and never came to the bottom of it, so would be interested to know what others' think!

You'd have to ask the individual lenders you are applying to what specific criteria they are using to make their decision. I'm helping someone at the moment with a credit score problem and finding out that it's not as simple as it looks. Also, if you 'keep' being refused i.e. you're making multiple applications that are rejected, that can also cause problems in itself

Are you on the electoral role? That can make a big difference. Also, have you lived in your house for 3 years or more? Apparently that can have an impact too, particularly if you are a frequent mover. Give them a ring and find out what the problem is. They should be able to tell you.

I have only applied for credit once in the last 2 years and was turned down so not made numerous applications.
Yes I am on electoral role, have lived in same house nearly 10 years and my previous address is listed as clear too.
It says that I have no outstanding debts to pay, no debts at all in fact!
Is it because I DON'T use credit could that look bad too?

In fact, DH applied for some kind of account with one of his business suppliers a couple of years ago. They turned him down due to my being a Director in his company. So, what was that all about?

I'm in the process of appealing my recent refusal . I didn't realise you can appeal but you can.

Having no credit is a risk as they don't have a history of you paying anything back Smile

See if you can get some credit history going, mobile phone contract rather than PAYG, a credit card card that you use occasionally and pay off straight away would start records,

Yep having no debt-payment history also goes against you.

Get a CCard make some small spends over 6 mths and pay the balance back in full every month

If you've only applied & been rejected once in two years is it actually fair to say that you haven't 'kept' being refused credit but it's an isolated thing? Why not apply for a CC (in the branch in person rather than on-line) with your regular bank and see how far you get now?
