Hi I wonder of any one can help -
My tax credits last year were based on the following
Joint income of 31,000 and child care costs of 33 per week . These costs started from August and I was receiving approx £25 pw

I have just send in info of our p60's and the correct total earings was 27,500 with CC costs the same - do I owe any money or do tax credits owe me money? And if so how much - the new calculator doesn't work as income fresholds have changed

Any info woul be great!

Thanks xx

Think they owe you as there is a difference of 3,500. But don't take my word for it as TCs confuse me too.

Does anyone
Know how long it takes befor I find out ? They are saying 6/8 weeks but before I there's been any changes it's always been much quicker than that x

You'll probably find out before then. They say 6-8 weeks to cover themselves as this is the busy period as everyone is putting in their new claims at the same time.

It will depend on what your earnings were for 2011/12 as there is now a 2.5K income disregard - basically this means that they ignore the first 2.5K of any fall in income (which is massively unfair IMO, but a whole other thread). However, the good news is that your award for 2012/13 should be based on the lower amount so you should get more this year.

Lois1989 · 11/06/2013 15:43

This is so confusing they told me that I was not entitled this year as over the 26k freshold? So will my end of year 12/13 not be assessed as it should have been assed at the time of claim? As i gave estimates? Thanks in advance x

No, the amount you get during the year is an estimate and is finalised when you provide actual figures when you renew the claim.
