Calling cod - please help my stupid sister

DSis (17) has been caught by a manned camera doing "about 58, maybe more, definately not more than 70" in a 50 mph zone. She only passed her test 6 months ago!

Would you mind looking in your big book and letting me know what she can expect? Is it likely to be 6 points straight away - hence meaning her licence is revoked? And if her licence is revoked, is there any time limit on how soon she can re-take her test?

I think it will only be 3 points Prufrock. I think the only time it is different is if you are doing over 100 on motorway then that's loss of license or if you are caught by one of those camera's in the back of van's. Don't take that as 100% though, Cod will defo know.

There are some different rules for new drivers under 21 though.

Not sure if they cover speeding offenses.

In general 'speeding' is listed as 3-6 points, hence the need for the wisdom of cod which passeth all understanding. Normally it's 3 points and I'd guess that's what it would be for 58 in a 50 zone, but would 69 in a 50 zone be more than 3 points?

I don't think there's any limitation on when you can retake your test if you lose your licence on the 6 points / 2 years rule after that, although you have to reapply for a new provisional licence, book and take all the bits of your test and depending on your area that can take a good while in and of itself, but again cod will know.

For 65mph or less she should get 3 points by that; for 66 - 75 still only 4-5 points, so she should be under the 6 point limit (fingers crossed that she learns from it)

Would she just get a statutory notice of intended prosecution for this?

I got 4 points for 52 in a 30

And 3 points for 75 in a 50

And am about to get another 3 for 63 in a 50

They have to tell you what speed you were doing, they wouldn't send you a speeding ticket saying "between 58 and 70"

Has he just been flashed by a camera? That does NOT mean that he will get a ticket. I was once flashed 12 times in one journey along the Embankment (had crucifying toothache and was trying to get to the hospital before the emergency dental clinic closed in my defence, the pain was SO bad that I didn't care if I lost my licence!) And I got NO tickets

my husband got done for douing 60 in a 30 when he was 17, he got 3 points, had a good bloody talking to but got off without a ban

26 mph over hte 50 gets her 6 poibnts
youa rent baned in court bu t a week or so after the points your licence is revoked

and esmummy wehave banned for way less than over 100 on a motorway

Thank you very much Cod (and everybody else). She has just got the notice of intended prosecution so far - so that's why she doesn't know exactly what speed she was clocked at. Will she actually have to go to court, or will it jsut be a postal exercise?

isnt there a fform on it if you want to plead guilty by post?
or a "pay up its £60" section? get her to read all sides carefully
